FOR STUDENT ARTISTS
WHO CAN SUBMIT
Makwande works with fine art students at South African universities. Two rules apply to every print:
- The print must have been made during your studies.
- The print must be mainly hand-printed.
Registering your interest is not a guarantee of selection. Inclusion is never guaranteed.
HOW TO APPLY
Email info.makwandeartprints@gmail.com with:
- Images of your prints.
- The title, medium, edition number, dimensions (paper size) and year of creation for each print.
- Your full name, cell number, email address and institution.
You can also use the form below.

Every sale benefits the student directly, and work is curated for the print itself, not the artist's reputation.
IF YOUR WORK IS SELECTED
- You sign a contract and a copyright amendment with Makwande.
- You supply a photo of yourself, a biography of no more than 250 words, your CV, and a statement of no more than 250 words for each selected work.
- You set your own price for your work.
- Prints are sent unframed and unmounted. Makwande back-mounts them with a clear protective cover.
- Works must be clean and undamaged.
- All communication about your work goes through Makwande.
EDITIONS AND MEASUREMENTS
An edition number such as 2/5 means the second print in an edition of five. Dimensions are always the paper size, not the image size.
SHIPPING YOUR WORK
Group shipments are arranged through an institution coordinator at Makwande's expense. Individual shipments are at your own expense; PostNet is suggested. Makwande is not responsible for loss in transit.

COPYRIGHT, IN PLAIN LANGUAGE
Copyright in your work always stays with you. Makwande holds a limited licence to use images of your work for promotion, the catalogue, education and archives.
COMMISSION
Makwande's standard commission is 25%, covering mounting, materials and shipping, and 15% for artists who mount their own work.
WHAT MAKWANDE DOES
Makwande creates opportunities to exhibit and sell student prints. Every sale benefits the student directly, and work is curated for the print itself, not the artist's reputation. Students also learn about contracts, pricing, preparing work and marketing.
